Funeral Planning

Planning a funeral for a loved one, family member or friend will probably be one of the most difficult things you will have go through.

Whenever someone passes away it comes as a great shock, even if the death was expected. Nothing can prepare you for the emotional shock of losing someone, the distress and emotional upset may leave the bereaved disorientated and unsure of what to do next.

Everything you feel, all the memories you have and how you want to remember and pay tribute to them them can be incredibly difficult to capture for just one day, their funeral.

We at Waters & Sons Funeral Directors understand how difficult it is for the person/ family to undertake these arrangements, we know the grieving process can be confusing and difficult to navigate so we will always ensure that the funeral arrangements are completed in a empathetic, professional and seamless manner.

We always endeavour to provide our families with full, clear, precise and appropriate information about all the funeral services we can provide and any other information necessary or required.

Some of the key elements you may need to consider beforehand will include whether the person who has died had expressed any specific preferences or prearranged any elements of the funeral beforehand and how you'd like to pay tribute to your loved one, some considerations are detailed for you below:

  • Did they/you want a religious, semi-religious or non-religious ceremony?
  • What style of funeral would they/you want i.e. traditional, simple, elaborate or bespoke?
  • How involved are family and friends going to be with the planning of the arrangements and participation in the funeral/ceremony?
  • How would you like to express their unique personality within the service itself?
  • What would their/your music choices be? (usually three pieces of music - but you can have more depending on service duration).
